The Tour Plan
- Arrival at Colombo International Airport, meet with our representative at the arrival lounge.
- Departure to Pinnawala to visit the Elephant Orphanage.
- Proceed to Sigiriya and arrive at the hotel. Lunch open.
Afternoon:
- Climb Sigiriya Lion Rock (World Heritage Site, UNESCO).
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage:
- Houses one of the largest herds of captive elephants, currently with 71 elephants.
- Main attractions: Elephants walking down to the river for their bath twice a day.
- Feeding time for baby elephants is a popular event.
Sigiriya Rock Fortress:
- Located a few hours from Colombo.
- Built in the 5th century A.D. by King Kassapa as a fortress.
- Famous for the Mirror Wall, with ancient poems and carvings by visitors.
- Known for its frescoes, similar to the Ajantha frescoes in India.
Dinner and Overnight stay at a hotel in Sigiriya.
AM:
- After breakfast, depart for Anuradhapura.
- Enjoy a scenic drive through small towns, rural villages, and coconut groves.
- En-route stopover to taste king coconut drinks, freshly cut pineapples, mangoes, and other tropical fruits.
- Visit Anuradhapura, a World Heritage site and the most extensive of Sri Lanka's ancient cities.
- Served as the national capital for over 1300 years until the 10th century AD.
PM:

- After breakfast, proceed to Polonnaruwa.
- Enjoy a village tour and city tour on the way.
- Visit the city of Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital and crown jewel of King Parakramabahu I.
- Explore the World Heritage Site, including stupas, Buddha statues, irrigation canals, and Hindu sculptures.
- Walk across the Watadage relic house with beautiful stone carvings.

We always stay at here when in town. The location is great, staff is wonderful and we love the overall feel. Beautiful view from the here.

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
